On leaving formal education in 1975, Kath spent three years in Lancashire Constabulary as a police woman on the beat in Preston. From 1978 until 2007 she then followed a typical career in IT, starting in computer operations & programming at Leyland Vehicles, analysis and design at Guardian Insurance and then into project management at Barclays Bank. On leaving the bank she worked part time for a national company specialising in Wills, Probate and Trusts until she retired in 2012.
Needless to say – she is now busier than ever doing the farm accounts for the family farming business and helping to look after seven grandchildren who all live close by.
In 2009 she became a Trustee of the ‘Richard Dumbreck Singleton Trust’ who own property, land and farms in her home village. Â Richard Dumbreck left Singleton Estate in trust for the benefit of the community of Singleton in 2002. Since then, money has been invested in the tenant’s cottages, the village school, the church, the village hall and permissive pathways in the village.
Kath also enjoys yoga and gardening but her main hobby is horse riding. She has owned a horse since she was 12 and she shows no signs yet of tiring from them yet!
